Feeling Low Energy In Life & Business? Try This...

We’ve got about 2-3 weeks left of home renovations and then we will have a kitchen again! Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been making it work without a kitchen - we even made a rotisserie chicken on our grill. Which was a new discovery! 🍗🤣

I’ve noticed that I’ve been feeling less than creative and less than my normal level of motivation. My desire to show up in my business fully in the creation of new things is lacking. For someone like me, maybe you can relate to this, I’m a pretty go, go, go, person. I’m super self-motivated, it doesn’t require a lot for me to get into action. Whenever I’m feeling like I’m not getting the clarity I’m looking for, I’m not getting the signs, I’m not getting the creative energy that I normally get, and I’m not able to just whip out new content it feels uncomfortable because I normally don’t have an issue with any of that!

I’ve been wondering where all my creative energy went, why I’m not having all the motivation to create new things in my business or to create new content. So I started to surrender to that and ask to be shown what’s next. I chose to use it as an opportunity to get quiet, to tap back into my meditation practice, and re-connect to my co-creator, god or source, in my work. I realized...of course, Nikki! Of course, you don’t have all the energy or creativity for your business. It’s because so much is going on with our home and I’ve been waiting a while to be in this process of renovating our house. I love interior design and choosing the different things for our home. So much of me is going into figuring all of those pieces out as we re-furnish our living space and as we get re-organized back into our newly renovated home.

It makes sense that I don’t have a lot of creativity for my business.

I used this example inside a call with the women in Impactful Brand Academy the other day...Imagine that we each have 100 energy tokens allotted to us. Right now, 75 of mine are going into this house project. Between managing the project, making sure everything gets done, picking out fixtures and hardware, interior design choices, etc. Now, let’s say that I have 25 tokens leftover. I mean, I have a 3.5-year-old, I have my husband, I have my regular life stuff, we have gymnastics, horseback riding lessons, friends that we’re connecting with, and then I have my business. So, 25 of them have to be dispersed and where are they going? I would say that 15 of my tokens are going to my daughter - if not 50...which definitely puts me over my allotted amount of tokens.

It’s safe to say that I am wiped as far as having more energy to put into all of the places! When I look at it that way, I don’t have the guilt that I’m not getting things done in my business. I don’t have the guilt that I’m not showing up in certain areas of my life in the most energetic ways that I normally am when I’m not renovating a house. When I look at it that way, I feel human and I have more grace for myself. It makes me wonder why I would expect myself to have the energy to be in all of the places, all of the time, doing all of the things and trying to feel good about it all.

We own our own businesses so that we don’t have to get to that space of burnout, so that we don’t have to get to that space of exhaustion, and so that it doesn’t have to feel like a chore. When you don’t have enough creative energy because your energy tokens are gone you could continue to push, push, push or you could choose to surrender and enjoy this season of life.

What would it feel like to just enjoy

this time and season that you’re in?

Insert your own stuff that’s going on, instead of a home renovation, what is going on in your life?

For example, in my Impactful Brand Academy call the other day when a client shared that her husband is going through a transition with his work, he’s got a lot going on personally figuring all of that out. As wives, we tend to hold space for our husbands to move through their own stuff. Holding space for someone, your child, your spouse, your parents, your friends, etc takes up energy!

Holding space isn’t passive, it takes up

energy and it uses our energy tokens.

If you’re feeling a lack of energy and flow in your work, I encourage you to look at the season of life you're in as a whole. If you were to give yourself 100 energy tokens, where are they going? Literally, write it out! Disperse out the 100 and see where you’re at. By writing it out, you may be able to put a timeline on these situations so that you can see a light at the end of the tunnel. If there isn’t a timeline for your situation, can you do things without guilt and have grace for yourself? How can you find a way for you to unload some of your energy and take some of your time back? Maybe something in your business or home or something somewhere needs to be outsourced! It doesn’t all have to be on you!

By becoming aware of where your energy is going, you

will be able to uncover so much and be able to give yourself

the grace and understanding that you deserve.
